Before becoming the owner and operator of BesTeas Sip & Bite, Vanessa Le spent several years working in the nursing field, including at Ochsner Ophthalmology. Her profession required specialized knowledge, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong sense of responsibility. However, alongside her healthcare career, she continued to nurture a desire to explore entrepreneurship, particularly in the Asian food and beverage industry.

Her decision to step away from her professional role and start a business was more than a career change. It was a carefully considered transition driven by her personal interests and her desire to introduce a new experience to the local community. Through BesTeas Sip & Bite, Vanessa Le envisioned a concept combining bubble tea, a diverse selection of beverages, and Asian snacks, creating a welcoming place where friends, families, and young people could gather, socialize, and share everyday moments.

In October 2024, Vanessa Le found a location on West Lee Drive, near the Arlington Creek Centre area in Baton Rouge. By early December of that year, friends and family had gathered at the shop to celebrate her new venture and sample the beverages she had prepared.

The interior of BesTeas Sip & Bite features two primary colors: desert pink and soft green, creating a youthful, inviting atmosphere. The menu brings together dozens of bubble tea flavors and a variety of visually appealing beverages, reflecting Vanessa’s vision of building a distinctive brand that caters to a wide range of customer preferences.

Vanessa Le focuses not only on offering a broad selection but also on combining ingredients and developing unique flavors. She shared, “I make bubble tea the way I personally enjoy it, so I hope everyone else will enjoy it, too.”

One of the signature creations she hopes will leave a lasting impression is a bubble tea featuring caramel sauce, egg pudding, and honey boba. The idea was inspired by a version she once tried in New York, which she later adapted in her own way for the shop’s menu.

Behind Vanessa Le’s decision to start a business are lessons she learned from her own family. Reflecting on her parents, she explained that they had to take considerable risks to build a life in the United States. Their experiences helped her understand that pursuing a goal always involves uncertainties and outcomes that cannot be predicted in advance.

“My parents took a lot of risks to get here, and they were quite open about talking about those experiences. Although they didn’t give me a lot of specific advice when I was growing up, I always observed them and saw that they never stopped me from pursuing the things I loved,” Vanessa Le shared.

For her, that support was not necessarily expressed through direct advice. It was also reflected in the way her parents faced difficulties and gave their children the freedom to choose their own paths. Through observing her family, Vanessa gradually developed the belief that everyone must take responsibility for their own decisions while remaining willing to learn from both successes and failures.

An avid pickleball enthusiast who enjoys traveling and is also a mother of two, Vanessa Le has had opportunities to experience different lifestyles and culinary trends. Her visits to relatives in Southern California also helped inspire her desire to bring experiences commonly found in larger cities closer to customers in Baton Rouge.

She explained, “Everything comes with risks, so why not take a chance on something you’re truly passionate about? Things might turn out well. And if they don’t, at least you’ll know the outcome. For me, it’s better to give something a try than to never know at all.”

Alongside developing BesTeas Sip & Bite, Vanessa Le has also chosen to participate in the Miss Peace International pageant. For the entrepreneur, the competition offers an opportunity to step beyond the familiar boundaries of business, connect with women from diverse backgrounds and experiences, and broaden her perspective on the role of women in modern society.
